It all started when I discovered some cheap ELO touchscreens for sale on Ebay via the Build Your Own Arcade machine forums (link to post). I had the idea of building the jukebox into a coffee table or end table. I wanted to build something that looked fairly elegant so I could place the jukebox in a living area of the house. I started looking for something that would fit my needs/idea. I even shopped at IKEA looking for a cheap piece of furniture that I could turn into a touchscreen jukebox that would still kind of look elegant in the house. I really didn't want to spend a lot of money on this project in case it didn't work out so I decided to use an old TV stand that we had in the basement. This TV stand was pretty beat up. It had even been used at one point as a mixer stand for the band I am in NEW FOSSILS. I don't have a good picture of the TV stand before I started the project. Here is a picture of the TV stand during the days when it was used as a table next to my work bench:
The whole project really wasn't planned out. I just started eye-balling things and trying things as I went along. The first thing I did was cut the top of the TV stand for the LCD touchscreen to show through:
